Ustinov Creative Suitcase: Together for a Colorful World
October 29, 2021
Our Ustinov team has packed 100 Creative Suitcases. Filled with pencils, chalk, and a coloring book, the suitcase is well-equipped for getting creative.
For a good and creative start in school life, refugee children are now receiving their own suitcase upon enrollment at the Albert Schweitzer School in Freiburg. Nine-year-old student Ersin, who came to Freiburg with his younger sister from Montenegro, is also thrilled about his own suitcase. Currently, he is attending a preparatory class focused primarily on language acquisition. His parents are labor migrants who hope to find a better future here in Germany than at home.
Sonja Kübler, a school social worker at the German Red Cross, and Wolfgang Sperber from the Ustinov team were also present at the handover. Landwasser is a western district of Freiburg in Breisgau, designed as a large housing estate. The Albert Schweitzer School there has three branches: the elementary school, the Werk-Realschule, and the Special Educational Counseling and Training Center. When children arrive in the middle of the year in a foreign country, with a new language, at a new school, it’s a significant challenge. To ease their arrival, they now receive a Creative Suitcase as a welcome gift. After all, creativity needs no language. We hope these suitcases bring a lot of joy!
In the future, the Sir Peter Ustinov Foundation, with the help of its donations, aims to continue promoting and supporting the creativity of children worldwide. For a world of diversity and respect!
