Young Art Enthusiasts Discover Van Gogh
February 13, 2020
“Making Van Gogh” was the title of a major exhibition at the Städel Museum in Frankfurt during the winter of 2019 and 2020. The focus of the exhibition was the creation of the “Myth of Van Gogh” around 1900 and the significance of his art for Modernism in Germany.
The core of the exhibition featured 50 key works by Vincent van Gogh from all phases of his career. It was the most comprehensive presentation of the painter’s works in Germany in nearly two decades.
The young art enthusiasts visited the exhibition and were inspired by Van Gogh’s unique use of colors and his painting style. Using the Städel app and a companion booklet, the students were able to deepen their knowledge. After the guided tour, they got to know Van Gogh in their own personal way by sketching a work of their choice. In the aftermath, they drew, painted, experimented with colors, and varied motifs. The result was expressive and colorful artworks in the style of Van Gogh.
