Goal

Education for a dignified life

  • Deseret Foundation e.V. is a non-profit association based in Leipzig.
  • The association aims to support the Deseret Community School in the village of Kyamagwa near Jinja, Uganda, and enable children in need to attend school free of charge.
  • This is intended to give disadvantaged children and orphans the opportunity to live a dignified and good life and to provide them with a quality education in a supportive social and economic environment.

The project

Targeted support against lack of opportunity.

  • Many children in the Kyamagwa community have become orphans due to poverty, HIV/AIDS, civil wars, or natural disasters.
  • Their basic needs are not adequately met, and hunger, poverty, household work, and illness make it difficult for children to attend school. The result: a vicious cycle of poverty and lack of opportunity.
  • With our support for the Deseret Foundation, we aim to reduce extreme poverty and improve the children’s living conditions. At the same time, by covering the annual school fees for 60 children, we ensure their education and personal development.

Success

Happy children through better access to education.

  • Thanks to the support of the Sir Peter Ustinov Foundation, 60 children can attend school completely free of charge for one year.
  • Free access to education gives children better educational opportunities, positively influences their development, and strengthens their self-confidence.
