The state-licensed social lottery “Deutsche Postcode Lottery” supported the Sir Peter Ustinov Foundation’s project “Safe Park” this year with €12,000. Established in 2015 near the western Kenyan city of Kisumu, the Safe Park provides children and young people with a safe space after school where they can play sports, read and study, express themselves creatively, and take part in discussions.

Ustinov Library

With the newly built Ustinov Library, a space was created where education and leisure activities work together harmoniously, helping to promote the children’s social and intellectual development. The small library gives children access to a wide variety of books and also serves as a safe and protected place to do homework.

Children Clubs

Once a month, the Children Clubs offer sports and artistic programs as well as debate clubs – around 6,000 children benefited from them in 2025. In these clubs, children can address socially relevant topics as well as family- and child-specific issues and discuss them in a safe environment.

Partizipatives Bildungstheater

The participatory educational theatre, which also takes place monthly, reaches approximately 3,600 children and young people each year. A theatre group from Kisumu uses playful performances to address topics such as gender equality, violence against women, child abuse, reproductive health, and school dropouts. In the participating schools, teenage pregnancies were reduced from 68 to 11 between 2017 and 2023.

The Deutsche Postcode Lottery is a social lottery, meaning that at least 30 percent of all ticket revenues go to projects promoting equal opportunities, social cohesion, and nature and environmental protection. Since its founding in Germany in 2016, the Postcode Lottery has supported more than 6,500 environmental and social projects with over €330 million.
