- Building a sustainable model for high-quality early childhood education in a disadvantaged setting.
Project
A Beacon Project for Early Childhood Education
- Operation of a Montessori kindergarten for 35 children aged 3 to 6 years, led by two trained local professionals and supported by two trainees.
- Weekly art therapy, early music education, and introductory computer courses during the preschool year.
- Promoting physical health through exercise and balanced nutrition.
- Continuing education and coaching for educators from 35 additional township kindergartens to improve educational quality and management.
- Regular documentation and reporting to the Peter Ustinov Foundation through photos, videos, and texts.
Success
A Sustainable Model for Early Childhood Education
- Continuous promotion of children’s intrinsic motivation and joy of learning, increasing their chances of educational success in later years.
- The kindergarten is consolidated as a flagship project with potential for scaling or replication.
- Sustainable improvements in educational levels and social integration of children in Walmer Township.
- Long-term assurance of the kindergarten’s operation through additional funding sources such as donations, sponsorships, and modest parent contributions.
