How the Sir Peter Ustinov Foundation Contributes to the Continuation of Family Classes.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Sir Peter Ustinov Foundation from Frankfurt. Thanks to their financial support, it has been possible since February 2023 to establish a Family Class at the Erich Kästner School in Frankfurt.
When the idea was first introduced, and principal Benedikt Gehrling and his team were approached about whether the Erich Kästner School would be a suitable location for a Family Class, their reaction was immediately positive. The teachers quickly recognized the potential benefits for both students and their parents, while also seeing the significant need at their school.
As a result, the Family Class was fully booked right after its opening and continues to be actively utilized by registered families to this day. The demand has increased due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the fact that many children are not yet prepared for the demands of elementary school at the time of enrollment.
To provide these children with the foundation for a successful educational journey, they meet once a week in the Family Class with a parent. Together with their parents, they receive intensive support, which often leads to rapid progress and success. Families typically attend the Family Class for a period of six months.
Despite the great success for families and the positive changes observed by class teachers in their students, the long-term continuation of the project is at risk, as secure, ongoing funding for the class has not yet been established.
For this reason, our gratitude to the Sir Peter Ustinov Foundation is even greater, as they have provided substantial financial support for the establishment of the Family Class from the very beginning. Even in 2024, the foundation’s generous donation forms the basis for enabling families to continue benefiting from this program.
