Flooding in Kenya: Over 100,000 People Have Lost Their Homes

Thousands of people in Kenya are currently in dire need and urgently require your support.

The country had just begun to recover from the devastating drought last year when huge swarms of locusts swept across the fields, destroying the livelihoods of people and animals alike. The newly planted crops were supposed to provide a glimmer of hope amidst hunger and poverty. However, with the onset of the rainy season, severe flooding occurred. Nearly 200 people have died; more than 100,000 have lost their homes. Many families have found refuge in nearby camps. Now, doctors are warning about the spread of diseases such as malaria and cholera.

Our partners at the ECD schools (Early Childhood Development Schools) in Kenya are doing everything in their power to protect the affected families.

They are providing children and their families with food supplies, setting up soap dispensers to prevent the spread of diseases, and distributing educational materials to children, as schools remain closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
